first injury in a long while
Last Thursday was my intramural basketball team's first playoff game. We have a regular season record of 2wins and 4 losses. Not a promising record but we knew we were better than that and showed we were by winning our first playoff game. What happened within that game however is what has affected my mobility the past few days. It was roughly 15 seconds into the game when I jumped to grab a rebound and was quick to find myself in immediate pain and on the gym floor clutching my ankle. I yelled for someone to sub themselves into the game for me as I rolled myself off the court. I hobbled over to our bench to decide what I should do. The score keeper asked if I needed ice, I replied no and thought I could just wait it out. I didn't play the first of the 1st half and decided, I could tie my toe tighter and that it would ease some of the pain and swelling. It worked and I played a majority of the second half. We won and I was happy about that but what I didn't know at the time is that I only made the injury worse and prolonged my recovery. An hour later I was iceing my ankle and keeping it elevated I decided I wanted to get a coke, but what I soon found out was that I could put zero weight on my foot and needed crutches. The next day and a half I manuvuered via crutches. Not a big fan. As the weekend progressed I got use to the ankle brace and started taking alot of advil to forget about it. The swelling has gone down substancially and it was begun to drain and bruise. And hopefully I'll be able to play basketball again in the second round of playoffs on tuesday.
